Technical Analyst – Java

Group Technology Services - Development - Maidenhead

An excellent opportunity has arisen in the IT Development team for a Technical Analyst specializing in J2EE-based eCommerce applications. This new role will be within the Technical Architecture team reporting to the Technical Architects. The successful applicant will support the team throughout the full development lifecycle, primarily during the initial design and estimation phase providing systems analysis, technical and design consultancy for programmes of work. The successful applicant can expect to spend a significant proportion of their time liaising with the group businesses and external partners.

Key aspects of the job will include:

• Be responsible for documenting high level architecture of technical solutions, developing and finalising high level estimates, tracking architectural project milestones.

• Provide support to the Project Teams within Development, on design or technical matters related to the projects.

• Liaising with other Technical Architect team members to ensure business requirements are understood, documented and communicated effectively to the Development Project Team

• Ability to communicate clearly with Business, Solutions, Development and Support Teams in clear and non-technical language where necessary.

• Have a solid understanding of I.T. applications in use, analysis and design strategies. Take these into account for new development requirements.

• Advise on design standards, guidelines and processes used on projects.

• Maintain a broad understanding of HMV Group business direction and its customers.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• In depth knowledge of J2EE-based multi-tier applications and an understanding of the related infrastructure

• Ability to multi-task over multiple projects & prioritise work loads.

• Have excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills

• Operate at the business, application or technical architecture levels (as required) with proven facilitation skills to drive out complete technical solutions and cost estimates to resolve business problems.

• Have experience of the project lifecycle from end to end, with excellent functional and technical analysis skills.

• Be highly reliable, self-motivated and committed to delivering work of the highest standards.

Experience:

• Experience of business in the retail sector would be an advantage.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio.

• Broad ecommerce experience especially with knowledge of Hybris, Endeca, MySql, DB2, Tomcat, Websphere, Linux.
