Taking a lead from the French took a break from newletter writing in August, so welcome to the September 2013 newsletter from PSS-Europe.

Summer finally arrived and this brought with it the holiday season. Planning on a project to minimize the impact of core resources being unavailable for two weeks is very important. The cost of even a days delay on a large project can have significant budget implications. Ensuring that delegation of authority is in place is key to ensuring continuity, this will need to be considered when selecting individuals for the project roles. Dissemination of relevant information and the ability to absorb and assimilate key information are essential skills.

As is normal in the Project Management world it is all about the planning. When delegating a good rule is that one should plan based on what one would want done if the roles were reversed. From personal experience it is common that cover for projects is done as a reciprocal arrangement. Holidays are far more relaxing knowing that the project will be as expected on your return.
