This month PSS-Europe has some excellent associates available with a wide range of skills and industry experience. Skills ranging across Portfolio, Programme and Project Management and Business Analysis in retail, telecoms, public sector, finance and more with the ability to work at the strategic level down to detailed process analysis.

The busy start for recruitment that January promised has led to a frustrating February with opportunities melting away as budgets have not materialised or unrealistic daily rates were being offered for the roles. That said, the market is still busy with the expectation of new budgets being available at the start of the new financial year. Hopefully the new money will stabilise requirements and sort the rates issue.

In February PSS-Europe became an official supplier to Tech Talenta who supply project resources to customers such as O2 and BT. Discussions are on going with another resource provider and this too hopefully will lead to PSS-Europe supplying resources.

Luke has been working hard looking for project managers with renewable energy engineering experience. An interesting area, carbon capture and storage, marine, power distribution and storage and judging by the few numbers of candidates available definitely a recommended area for students considering an engineering career.

Since the introduction of self assessment in 1996, HMRC has been retraining its staff to develop investigatory skills rather than deal mainly with compliance and the preparation of assessments, as was previously the case. This new focus of the Revenue and certain developments over the last year suggest that the number of tax investigations, which may target businesses or individuals, is likely to continue rising over the coming months.
