Project Manger

Responsibilities : SETTING UP PROGECT GOVENANCE AND PROJECT INITIALTION, DAY TO DAY RUNING OF PROJECT AND PROJECT TEAMS, PRODUCTION OF BUSINESS CASE FOR £2 MILLION MUILTI PROJECT PROGRAMME, TRANSITION PLANNING, STAKEHOLDER Mgmt, COMPLIANCE Mgmt, 3 RD PARTY Mgmt & SELECTION, DR & CONTINUITY PLANNING.

Senior Business director facing role, developing the business case for a £2 million capex/opex based change programme. Managing the benefits gathering staff and working closely with the financial team to define the plan and the related costs covering every department within the NSPCC and mitigation of risks that directly affect the monthly income of £11 million.

The project will replace all financial systems and introduce an new CRM and SFA based system to allow the new definition of business process and greater management of the customer base to increase cross selling and decrease attrition rates.

Fuller & Sons are specialist and general builders with sites throughout the UK, they have expanded in to the specialist cladding, with this expansion they have reviewed their systems and process and working with the owner I have developed a structured plan for the replacement and refurbish existing systems, this is an ongoing piece of work with many planned phases.

The first phase was a full review and overhaul of the web site, which has led to it growing and splitting it into three areas: residential cladding, commercial cladding and general building. Then replacement of supporting hardware has been completed. The second phase was to develop a number of pricing solutions allowing field staff to accurately price work and allow sales team to produce consistent bids for main and sub contract work.

Managed multiple projects across many sites in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland whilst controlling junior project managers in the delivery of applications and service to support the mix of programmes run under Agile and Prince 2 project methodologies, due to the varied background Reed used me to run projects which they would normally get in a separate PM for, but due to the short term nature of these I was assigned the projects and delivered everyone in budget and time.

Planned and managed the full implementation of ITIL service desk and service management with change control including configuration management software, defect tracking software and technical portal.

Managed a full audit and re-documentation of all support process and infrastructure including licencing, defined a five-year growth plan. Recruited six new staff to create a new service desk and transitioned the resulting solution and staff to establish a BAU team. Negotiated contracts with a number of outsource companies to support third line and warranty support.  

BBC Jan 06 – Jan 08 5 renewals (Multi site UK and Weekly travel to Israel)
Project Manager / Business Analysis (80 / 20 split)

Responsibilities : PRODUCT DELIVERY, IMPLMENTATION & TRANSITION PLANNING & DELIVERY, SERVICE DELIVERY, ITIL IMPLMNETATION, STAKEHOLDER Mgmt, COMPLIANCE Mgmt, HARDWARE DEFINTION & SELECTION, 3 RD PARTY Mgmt & SELECTION, TESTING & PERFORMANCE TUNING, BAU IMPLMENTATION, DR & CONTINUITY PLANNING, TESTING AND IMPLMENTATION.

Due to the importance and rapid nature of requirements change and criticality of the application (supplies all BBC TV and Radio to air), I would need to do a small amount of BA work, if the requirements where small and less than 4 days in duration, I would complete the requirements myself and obtain sign off from the board in the normal fashion, this allowed me to maintain the delivery schedules rather than going and spending two weeks trying to find a BA for 4 days work.

Managed end-to-end global projects covering; application delivery: document management system; data migration: development; software, web and supporting systems: infrastructure; design, re-designs, upgrades and moves: business transformation and transition. All part of a strategic business critical programme impacting 2000 staff and all aspects of the business. Developed to interface to the SAP financial system rounding the process from channel planning through to procurement and into payment. On average I was running, three or five concurrent projects, utilising tech leads heavily on infrastructure and lead developer on the software projects.

Inherited 2 yr over running corporate wide software development project, re-aligned the main delivery back on track, reassessed time scales and budgets using creative thinking, utilising positive monitoring, process change, teamwork and cross country relationship building.

Managed the relationship between the 3 rd Party software company and the internal BBC companies (BBC TV, BBC Radio, BBC World Wide, UK TV). Management between offshore based primary development company and an internal development teams based in two different locations with the test team in a third location in the UK.

Launched 2 external B2B & B2C and 3 internal web based portals utilising Apache, Web Sphere, HTML, XML, CSS, Flash as delivery tier, Java, Python and PHP as the middle tier and Oracle MySQL as the back end. Development supporting, CMS, import and export capabilities, user authentication, secure payment and secure token based security/access with interfaces into procurement systems (SAP and Oracle Financials) and workflow delivery process.

Worked with MC&A department in definition of web site look and feel to match target audience and to fit into BBC corporation strategic goals and the departmental sponsors to deliver a rich end user experience and strengthen the BBC Brand in target sectors.

Stakeholders were based in UK (London, Belfast, Glasgow) and America (LA and New York) and the main development team was based in Israel, management of meeting and production of risk registers and plans was of the utmost importance due to the once every two months project board meetings.

•  Solutions delivered – Replaced and decommissioned 40 individual applications with one system; implemented the supporting hardware; automated testing; reporting solutions; SLA and ITL support model; transition planning and delivery; DR solution; legacy data migration; business rollout; web portal; interface design, deployment and testing; business process re-engineering; business continuity planning and Oracle upgrades 8 to 10.

Designed & built profile, programme and project management tool allowing detailed milestone, financial and resource tracking which is still in use, covering DSMS and Prince 2 as base.

Managed all development and Testing teams at Lynx covering Java and C# /.net and Apache development. Delivering N Tier solutions, client side and client / server based solutions. Utilising BA's and client workshops to define the requirements, correct development methodologies and deployment strategies encompassing testing training and rollout to clients across the UK. Design and deliver of CMS, Document management and MS SharePoint / Workflow solutions.

Worked closely with individual organisations and their marketing teams to define and maintain look and fell consistency with existing marketing campaigns or corporate image.

Reorganised and drove an interactive voice based mobile and fixed line solution for International Telco and Government organisations. Planning all stages of the rollout, and ensuring all external partners delivered ensure efficient deployment.

Development of a mobile tracking and workforce solution allowing telecommunication companies to track staff locations and bridging into the trouble ticketing system lading to a reduction in fault rectification, using a cell tracking back to a lat/long location identification solution over laying a Oracle db utilising special date to overlay and national map and then overlaying staff cell locations to track and plan staff routine and trouble ticketing system.

Java based N Tier application utilising phone (fixed and mobile) or Kiosk based interface into an IVR and VXML solution delivering directory services.

•  Solutions delivered – Automated voice, DTMF and VXML booking application, Kiosk information requesting application, Emergency response application. Remote locations call centre application. Selection of recording studio and voice; automatic voice recognition system solution; process engineered the DTMF and VXML sequencing procedures; Implemented mobile, fixed line (PABX & VOIP), kiosk, and intranet information requesting application; emergency response application; remote locations call centre application; Implemented in Chichester County council and EIR Telecom, Location based tracking and staff overlay solution planning maintenance staff driven off the Voice based tracking solution.
