An opportunity to become the point person for engineering statistical analysis within the renewable energy sector and contribute to setting the strategy for the future. If you have a 1st or strong 2:1 in a relevant engineering subject (electrical, chemical and control, heavy engineering preferred); have a passion for engineering and aspire to professional (charter) status; have commercial experience working in either in a recognised Design Authority or a large and competent design group in a major consultancy or an industrial group.

The person will be responsible for the developing and applying detailed models including supply and demand, environmental impact and economic factors to evaluate emerging low carbon technologies through to 2050. The results to be used to understand the impact of market and policy regimes on the UK energy system, determine the strategy of which technologies to adopt. As a key player in the strategy team interfacing with the strategy managers and programme delivery teams responsibilities will include ensuring all information used is fact based and critical information and assumptions are documented; build relationships within the ONS and other organisations to source information. There will be opportunities to do original research and not just synthesis of existing models.
