| Programme Manager (Business) |
Our client, a public/private partnership organisation, is looking for a commercial Programme Manager. Our client's mission is to accelerate the development, demonstration and eventual commercial deployment of renewable energy technologies, which will increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help achieve energy and climate change goals. This will be achieved through the successful identification, funding and management of a focussed portfolio of multi-million pound energy technology programmes. There are currently a number of major programmes running including Marine, Offshore Wind, Distributed Energy, Transport, Carbon Capture & Storage and Energy Networks. Other programmes are being planned.
As Programme Manager you will be part of a Programme Team taking products from prototype to pre-production; responsible for the formulating, implementing and monitoring of research and technology programmes that compose the overall Programme Portfolio, through the full programme lifecycle from initiation through to completion. You will work with colleagues across the business, to define suitable project procurement or commissioning processes; To identify and engage with suitable project participants; to facilitate the development of consortia to deliver projects where appropriate; to develop research proposals, together with colleagues from Legal, Finance and Strategy departments, that deliver the required benefits; Negotiate project contract terms and conditions; Manage programmes and projects to ensure that defined business benefits are realised that contribute towards the realisation of the overall Strategic Objectives using project management tools, methodology and best practice. This will involve regular travel within the UK; Manage programmes and projects in line with our client's audit and risk strategies; Regular presentations to Members on the status of the Programme area.
As Programme Manager you need to be results orientated, entrepreneurial and self motivated with extensive planning and organisational skills, including substantial client facing experience. WE are looking for an individual who is able to provide direct commercial experience gained in a non-IT environment including:
- Direct experience of research, development and demonstration management and ideally business exploitation including contract negotiation in an innovative technology role
- Formal project or programme management accreditation desirable - Relevant Programme management qualification e.g. MSP Practitioner or equivalent in-house system
- Working knowledge of the supply chain in Distributed Energy would be advantageous but not essential
- Broad technical background preferable, with specific focus on low carbon emission programmes
- Evidence of leading/delivering more than one large scale/complex collaborative programme to time, cost and required quality, to include experience of budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Exposure to State Aid Regulations desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven leadership, team working and project management skills
- Effective negotiation skills
Strong IT and communication (written and oral) and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate reports.
- Evidence to indicate a strong relationship builder with internal and external contacts
- Ideally you will be educated with a degree in engineering or science
- Willingness to travel, within the UK and globally as required
