Project Manager (OSS)

Location: Bracknell Salary/Rate: £60k + car allowance + benefits

Summary

OSS PM to deploy software, hardware, connectivity and security. The PM should be able to communicate with all aspects of the business and the vendors.

Department: Telecommunications Group

The Project Manager has responsibility for project managing the definition, design and delivery of telecoms solutions. This may include the functions of project initiation, project planning, financial/budget management, partner/subcontractor management, project reporting, issue and risk management, project closure. In addition, the Project Manger will support sales and business development activities by undertaking activities which include defining project scope, resource and cost estimating and promoting the companies ability to deliver. The approach followed is to support the Telecoms Group in achieving overall business objectives.

The Project Manager may be capable of undertaking project across the full set of solutions offered by the Telecoms Group; however it is recognised that an individual may have skills, experience, aptitude or interests that will lead him/her to specialise in a particular area.

Role responsibility

Project Management

The Telecoms Project Manager may work as an individual or as part of a team to undertake the following:
•  Engagement lead for specific OSS/BSS projects.
•  Opportunity and threat analysis.
•  Project planning for potential project opportunities (pre sales)
•  Project planning for delivery (post-sales).
•  Project responsibility for the customer deliverables, milestones and commercial closure.
•  Engagement responsibility for resource utilisation and project margin.
•  Regular reporting to customers and the internal management team.
•  Establishing specialist project teams that require scarce skilled resources.
•  Managing varied project teams including internal, customer, vendor and other 3rd party staff.
•  Business, operational and technical requirements gathering.
•  Management of relationships with partners and regular suppliers.
•  Customer Relationship management throughout the project lifecycle ensuring customer satisfaction objectives are achieved.
•  Creating and maintaining project documentation.

Sales Support
The Project Manager will work in conjunction with other members of the team to perform the following:
•  Bid Management and Commercial Support
•  Bid process – from receipt of RFI/RFQ to response submission and closure
•  Bid planning and bid team building
•  Project management of bid preparation and delivery
•  Providing, integrating and presenting commercial and project content
•  Creation and maintenance of bid files and including them in bid library
•  Support of the process to achieve bid and quotation approval/rejection
•  Application of company contracts to project opportunities
•  Support of negotiation of contracts with customers and partners as appropriate.
•  Pre-Sales Consulting
•  Forecast demand and type of technical and solution expertise that will be required from business units to support the project
•  Project planning for potential project opportunities.
•  Support of the project sales process.

Marketing Support
The Project Manager will work in conjunction with other members of the team to perform the following:
•  Coordinate activities that support development and maintenance of Telecoms marketing collaterals, including drafting of project case studies for example.

Candidate skills & Attributes

The Project Manager should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Experience

The Project Manager will have the following experience:
•  Experience of establishing and managing large third-party development and/or integration projects
•  Previous Project Management roles likely to have been performed with either an equipment supplier, a major network operator (large enterprise, carrier, ISP) or a Systems Integrator/Consultancy
•  Consulting/systems integration experience
•  Software Engineering/systems development processes
•  Relevant sector and domain knowledge
•  Familiar with the key OSS/BSS processes, for example, alarm correlation service management, fault management, provisioning and activation, order management, inventory management, billing and customer management.

Qualifications

Ideally educated to degree level
Ideally will hold a project management qualification or professional accreditation
Ideally some specific technology domain training, particularly in IP
Minimum 5 years relevant experience
