Camelot Group PLC – National Lottery Operator. October 2006 to date .
Business Analyst
Responsibilities: Analysis of Gaming, Business Systems and Business processes to further the most efficient contribution of funds to the Good Causes.
Currently engaged in the capture and analysis of current working practices and business model to aid design of future business model allowing for a 25% reduction in fixed and variable costs whilst providing a framework for growth in the returns to good causes over the next 3 years.
Managed the requirements analysis for rolling out and supporting 28,500 new lottery terminals, the new vSAT communications technologies and enhancements to 7 back office business systems, including systems interfaces to 3 rd party suppliers employed in support of those lottery terminals.
Responsible for the analysis and functional requirements for a new, temporary application, needed to administer the collection of retailer shop surveys for vSAT installations, and management of the communications and terminal installer, Hughes Network Services.
Responsible for successful transition of new lottery terminal through formal System, Function and Proving testing conducted by external auditors Deloitte and Touche.
Responsible for identifying stakeholders, eliciting business requirements from workshops to produce Software Requirements Specifications for our legacy systems and SAP Scenario, Business Process, and FRWICE documentation for our CRM / ECC systems. Also responsible for managing the traceability matrix of requirements to test scripts.
Provided Project Manager cover for 3 months during project start-up whilst Camelot assigned their PM resources. This involved the planning of my own work and that of another BA, the creation of the BA Project Plan for the BA deliverables. Responsible for the BA Checkpoint reporting. Responsible for the management of Risks and Issues prior to the assignment of the PMO to this project. Input to End Stage Assessments throughout the project.
Management of third party suppliers of technical solutions to Camelot, namely GTECH, Atos Origin, Hughes Network Services, IMA and Unitrans.
Input to Design reviews for all systems and also the review of the unit and end to end test plans.
On starting with Camelot I was assigned to conduct a review and summarise existing requirements for a Sales Database project that had floundered over the course of several years. Working with a new project team I helped successfully resolve outstanding Change Requests and Test Incident Reports to allow the implementation to be put live and used as the primary source of Sales Management Information.

Responsibilities: Web Site Administrator/Firmware Beta Tester/TAP Functional Design & Tester.
The web site is dedicated to the development of a FreeView PVR (Personal Video Recorder) manufactured by a Korean company called Topfield. I instigated the development of formal test scripts and have been instrumental in the testing of Beta Firmware's prior to their public release, coordination of bug reports and end user testing. I have been invited to take on more responsibility by the web site owner due to my commitment and clear communications to correct errors with the machines software, my ability to help new users make the most of their investment, and finally my functional design input to assist developers of add on applications called TAPs (Topfield Applications), principally a “Tivo/Sky+” style UI replacement called “MyStuff”.

Business Analyst
Responsibilities: Business Analyst – Replacement CRM for WS Atkins acting on behalf of the Carbon Trust.
WS Atkins runs a call centre on behalf of the Carbon Trust. The CRM system currently in use is no longer supported by the original software authors. WS Atkins appointed Lynx Technology to provide ongoing support for all applications and infrastructure used by WS Atkins on behalf of the Carbon Trust. I provided sub-contract services to Lynx Technology, documenting the current system and processes such that Lynx can undertake development of a short term replacement CRM system. Identified stakeholders, conducted 1-2-1 interviews, produced Lynx format documentation (Process Maps, Swim Lane diagrams, UI navigation maps).
The analysis highlighted a raft of issues with current systems and associated processes. This was fed back to WS Atkins via Lynx Technologies and I was asked to create a summary proposal of recommendations for a later phase for a full replacement the CRM system and processes.

Business Analyst/Extranet Developer/Project Manager
Responsibilities: Extranet Online Project Office – PSS ProjectPoint (Analysis, Design & Build)
I performed the analysis into the products to be offered including their functional and technical requirements. Performed the supplier analysis into the package selection of SORCE software to provide the core extranet applications including the negotiation of the working contract with SORCE and the supplier service level agreement ( SLA ). Requirements analysis carried out using workshops and stakeholder interviews. I project managed the full project lifecycle from supplier selection through design and development to implementation of an extranet solution to provide an online Project Office Environment (POE) for PSS consultants and a product offering to PSS customers. The project was managed using Prince 2 standards. Development involved customisation of the base SORCE applications to form the POE, including technical resource finder, EDM area including a PRINCE 2 template bank. Unit/Integration & UAT management area plus other subordinate applications to provide a complete one-stop-shop for the management of business and technical projects.
International Decision Systems Ltd - Software house, Leasing Div'n. July 2003 to May 2004 Business Systems Analyst client facing CitiCapital
Responsibilities: Functional Enhancement Analysis / Design & Implementation of UAT programme
CitiCapital had grown its leasing portfolio via acquisition of smaller leasing companies, I was responsible for the consolidation of those portfolios onto InfoLease. A number of enhancements identified by the business, needed formal assessment and analysis for costing and coding by offshore development team in the United States . I converted the business requirements to specification documents to be passed to the development team. Managed the UAT process and the risks and issue logs.
In addition CitiCapital had a backlog of untested releases designed for their markets in France , Germany , Italy and Spain . I managed a complete review of the functionality requested and developed a UAT programme strategy including software configuration for the geographic trading environments, aligned to operational requirements, design of test plans and cases, managed the execution of those test cases, recording of results and feedback to the States for resolution and re-testing. All testing completed in line with business deadlines.

PSS Ltd needed to create a formal Project Office to support delivery of services by PSS Ltd to its clients based on Prince 2 and being adaptable to use the client selected methodology. As part of the design I created a central library for all programme and project documentation. Standard processes were documented including monitoring of SLA's, updating plans, ensuring compliance to client project methodologies, or implementing PSS methodology where the client had yet to adopt a formal methodology. I implemented configuration management for PSS Europe's management products. The processes support the ongoing engagement of clients.

Responsibilities: Project Recovery
I was assigned to manage a failing project of IDS's sister company David Henley Systems who specialise in the vehicle fleet management software market. The project had suffered from a result of scarce resource from both supplier (DHS), and client (First National Vehicle Holdings) and complete lack of Stakeholder identification and assessment. I undertook a complete review of current status as perceived by both parties. Resolution involved settlement of financial issues for past deliveries. Settlement of outstanding Help Desk Tickets. Development of proposal for continued engagement of DHS by FNVH, for consideration by the FNVH board. Proposal accepted.
Introduced to DHS, structured project methodology practices including: Stakeholder analysis, Project Risks/Issues Analysis, Change and Configuration Management protocols to avert future client issues.
Led a team comprising: BA, Developers (C++), DBA's (Oracle 8i), Accountants, and Help Desk specialists. Resource co-ordination of Data Migration specialists, Technical Authors and Training Providers.

Responsibilities: Project Manage the design and implementation of a b2b web based credit tool.
Newcourt Finance needed to implement a business information warehouse and CRM application to consolidate a number of legacy systems onto a modern scalable platform. As part of this overall implementation, I was to manage the design and budget (c£1m GBP) of a single module capable of performing a real time assessment of the credit worthiness of the end customer for a number of technical vendors across Europe (DELL, Agilant, INTEL etc.). I formed a matrix project team comprised of business representatives from Admin, Risk and MIS teams across Europe . Local technical team comprising Oracle 8i / KARL / XML & Java specialists and Third Party Data Supplier Management across Europe:-(Equifax / D&B / Experian / Banque d'France / Creditreform). This was a full project lifecycle in respect of the UK solution. The European solution was suspended following financial irregularities between Newcourt Finance and its parent company in the States, CIT Corporation.

Piper Travel wished to gain entry into the vISP business to promote its travel business and expand into providing a “Lifestyle” web portal which could be franchised across various leisure and lifestyle activities (Golf, Gardening, Holidays, Weddings etc.). I was commissioned to build the business case for Piper Travel to seek venture capital to proceed. I created the business case which incorporated the usual financial and market analysis together with a concept model including functional design for the web portal, and commitment from web suppliers to build the applications required.
