Principal Accountabilities

•  To support the Strategy Manager (Energy Storage & Distribution) in the technical and economic analysis of key energy infrastructure issues, their long-term challenges and the opportunities for technology development intervention.

•  Liaising with the Programme Manager (Energy Storage & Distribution) to ensure that projects in development and those already in delivery align with the company's high level strategic objectives and the specific objectives of the Energy Storage & Distribution Programme.

•  Review the technical aspects of project deliverables to (i) ensure the delivery of the desired project outcomes to the required technical quality; and (iii) ensure that the key strategic outcomes of the projects are recorded, analysed, communicated clearly and fed back into the strategy development process.

•  To evaluate the technical and strategic aspects of proposed project variations and assess the impacts and implications for outcome delivery.

 
Experience / Skills

•  Degree level in electrical power engineering or related discipline.

•  Chartered engineer status with broad engineering background having specific experience in the design and development of electricity distribution networks, power generation, and (ideally) energy storage plant.

•  Broad understanding of UK energy infrastructure issues, including the interactions of electricity, gas and other (e.g. heat) networks.

•  Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills.

•  Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate reports and presentations.

•  An outcome focussed self-starter.

•  Flexibility to adapt to changes in external constraints.
